ELECTORAL HISTORY OF SEDGEMOOR

Sedgemoor District Council has always been Tory dominated. In the early years ,with a strong Labour presence in Bridgwater and Highbridge , they had to rely on right wing Independents to prop them up. In recent years Lib Dems have challenged them in rural areas with some success but also undermined Labour control in Highbridge thus nullifying the effect. Below is a history of the elections since 1979 in Sedgemoor .
